Educational Reflection | Every Child Shines in Their Own Way
Recently, I’ve been receiving messages from parents sharing their children’s achievements in school competitions.
These small moments of joy gradually come together, becoming a meaningful part of our journey as educators.
One of them is a particularly special student.
He was awarded second place in a singing competition at Zera International School.
In terms of expression and understanding, he does require more time compared to other children.
Yet, he possesses a voice that is pure, steady, and deeply sincere.
It often reminds me that talent does not appear in just one form—
it simply requires us to recognize it in the right way.
On the other hand, there is May Han, a student from our art class.
Under the guidance of Teacher Yan Jia, she won first place in a colouring competition at SJKC Foon Yew 5.
As a Level 2 student, she has built a strong foundation, with clean lines and an increasingly refined sense of colour.
But more importantly, she is learning how to complete her work “just right”—
meeting expectations while still maintaining her own rhythm and expression.
This, perhaps, is one of the most valuable skills at a young age:
to find a voice within structure.
Over time, I’ve come to realize that every child walks a different path.
Some express themselves through sound, others through colour.
And our role is simply to walk alongside them —
